South Island, New Zealand

Im sorry its been such a long time since my last post but its been almost impossible to find the internet. We travelled down from Lake Taupo to Wellington to catch the ferry over to the south island. We decided to take the cheap option which was at 3am in the morning so we parked the camper up in a car park in wellington and waited until 3am friday morn to get the ferry accross. We arrived in the South Island at about 7am pretty tired and headed down to Haverlock ( the home of green mussels) We hired these rather dodgy kyaks of a "friend" unfortunately the price was so cheap as there was only one paddl;e so we started making a paddle out of a broom handle and a container. An hour or so later Joel and I were attempting to kyak down a river with sinking kyaks and a very dodgy paddle. One of the funniest experiences of the holiday. Friday night we headed out into Haverlock and played a game called toss the boss. You order a drink and if you throw a higher no. than the bartender your drink is free. I was on fire 3 jugs later i still hadnt paid for a drink! Saturday was a bit of a dull day and we spent alot of it driving, it wasnt all bad with some of the scenary though as it is truly breathtaking. Sunday we went to Greymouth and spent the daya chilling on the beach. Around 5 pm we were covered in sand and rather hot without a shower we took the shampoo into the sea and tried to clean ourself there. We got compleatly covered in sand and ended up having to use bottled water and have a "shower" on the side of the road which got some very wierd looks from the locals. We then went to the supermarket picked up some burgers and headed to the beach with the bbq and to watch the sunset. Today we headed down to the Franz Joseph glazier and walked up to it. The size is very daunting. Tomorrow we are going to take an all day glacier hike up the fox glacier so will update all how it is going.

Thank your for all the emails and comments its good to hear from people.
