Fraser Island, Queensland

Hey everyone

Today was Fraser Island Day Two!

After a huge breakfast at the resort, our first stop was Lake Wabby. The lake was a 30 minute walk from the beach, the first half through the bushes, the second half over a sandblow. The walk was worth it though, and we had a nice time relaxing by the lake, going for a swim, and spotting catfish in the lake.

It was then already time for lunch, so after a big buffet at the resort it was back on the bus and a drive along the islands rough sandy tracks to Lake Mackenzie, the islands most beautiful lake. After a bumpy ride, edging past trees and trying not to get stuck in the sand, we pulled up at Lake Mackenzie and were met with the sight of the impressive lake stretching out in front of us. The water was crystal clear and azure blue, washing up on beautiful white sand.

Here we had a swim, took some photos and relaxed in the shade, then we followed a path leading to a second beach which turned out to be much quieter than the first. We were almost the only people on it, making it much more tranquil than the busy main beach. After another swim and quick dry off in the hot afternoon sun, it was time to board our bus for another long and bumpy ride to the barge terminal.

Back at the hostel, we had a bite to eat and had no trouble falling asleep after a couple of amazing yet tiring days. Xxx
