Scott,

Your blog about Romania really got just about all of it, and so precisely and elegantly described. And the photographs are wonderful...this way I get to keep it forever.

The photos of Turkey are spectacular - the shot of the Suleyman mosque in particular. I'm glad you got the travel bug back, if only for a while.

Isn't Sarajevo wonderful! I'm delighted to read that the people were able to protect or recreate the energy of the city after all they've been through. Your description matches my memories of the fascinating mix of cultures in the city. Thanks for the reminder and the reassurance.

But, Scott, your photo of the castle is so cool. It makes me want to go to Bratislava.

Scott -

It has been fun comparing your description of the Tatras experience and Rebecca's. I love your photographs, every one of them. More please! You must have had so much fun making Bouzov Castle.

The photo of the river in Prague is gorgeous. I can't believe that Marcia and I will be there in just a little over two weeks!

Scott - How cool that you went to Leipzig, and got away from the capitals of European cities for awhile. It sounds like a nice change of pace, and the potato house and the double room feels like finally there is a town that wants to make you welcome on your own terms.

Hey, Scott! Your mom and I were just looking at all REBECCA's wonderful pictures and are very glad SHE post some!

Your mom was here and she had not seen any of the pix so we did a slideshow. She was excited to see you and was glad when you finally changed your shirt in Rebecca's pictures.

Oaly safe, have more fun, take more pictures for us to see when you finally return to the US.

Love, Mom and Kathy

How sad to have such a disappointing experience of Amsterdam. Yes, it's a beautiful city and I had imagined the two of you renting bicycles and adding the the lovely soft whirring sound that fills the city. So, you'll return and experience the Dutch rather than silly American tourists visiting places for all the wrong reasons . . . and you'll get to enjoy those peaceful canals.

At least Van Gogh saved the day. Don't you love saying his name?

Scott,

Its nice to have you back in Europe again, though I'm still feeling all the beauty and wonder of Morocco that came through your writing. I'm glad you are enjoying Paris with a kitchen and a view of the Eiffel tower.

I'm itching to have a real conversation with you, and glad that we will have that opportunity in a few months.

Hi Scott! It's been crazy in YouthBuild land, so I just got a chance to catch up on your blogs, and I have to agree with everyone else, your descriptions are amazing and it sounds like such a great time so far!

I'm totally living vicariously through you and taking notes for if we ever get over there and tear ourselves away from Ireland ;) I'm looking forward to reading the rest of your adventures, and we miss you!

Hugs, Sarah

Scott ~

This is fantastic reading - I feel like I am there.....but as you know I am not.
Now .... re your Q "The Basque language doesnt even have the common courtesy to be related to any other tongue that anyone in the world has even heard of... whose idea was it to have all these different languages, anyway??"
I recommend the film "BABEL".

Scott,

Reading your blogs makes me so hungry! The description of tapas in Barcelona, and the totally different kind of snack food in Basque country is as exciting as the descriptions of the towns and the museums. Of course, your description of the people is the best of all. Thanks so much for this expressive blogging of yours, and your ability to express awe and appreciation along with annoyance and difficulty.

Happy birthday Katelyn!!  How the time does fly.  Before you know it, your dad will be showing you how to take apart motherboards and update the bios.  Drink one for me!

Wow, I can only imagine that you two are totally enjoying yourselves with all of this culture and experiences.  Where else do you two plan on going, or are you taking all of the unknown roads to see where they lead you.  FYI, my daughter Katelyn turned 1 today (May 24).  Adrianne, Katelyn and I give their love.

Scott,

I really liked the four short blog reports on Morocco.  The last one about the square in Marrakech was particularly evocative.  You paint marvelous pictures with your prose.  I could really see all of you dancing.   No wonder Marrakech is associated with getting high.  The whole place seems like a constant high.

Are you guys going to do your trip into the desert, or is Morocco "strange" enough already?

What a writer! I am so eager to see where you are and if you have some new sensation to share with us, I have begun checking more frequently. What a treat to find several posting!

Can't wait to see your pictures someday!

Be safe, play nice with the donkeys!

Love to you both! Kathy C.

Is there any sound as hauntingly beautiful as "the long, ululating wail of the muezzin calling the faithful to prayer"? With those words you brought part of me into Morroco with you. Thank you, Scott.

Scott,

I loved your description of your dual response to entering Morocco.  The terror and the enchantment; the marvel and the discomfort.  While I know that you and Rebecca have decided that you are "tourists" with remarkable intellectual honesty, it seems that you are less so here in Morocco.  Please keep on writing - you and Rebecca are keeping us right along with you.

Hi

From Rebecca's emails I realized that I could communicate with you! Rob showed me how and so finally I get to respond to your wonderful pictures and texts! I love your writing. You describe so well your joys and struggles. I agree with Rob that your details are vivid. I am inspired by your adventures. Be well. Love, Meri   ps please share this with Rebecca and  tell her that I'm having trouble getting into her blog but I'll keep trying!
