Hey, I love your blog...what an awesome trip! I came across your site when I subscribed to google alerts...am trying to track down a Benjamin Townend (my great great great uncle) who immigrated from Keighley, Yorkshire, England to Sydney, Australia in the mid to late 1800's. Any connection, by chance?

(Yeah, I know this is an incredibly long shot, but thought I'd check it out.)

Hi there - what has happened to your photos - you seem to have 'run out of film' and there are none from Australia!
(I'm hoping you will get some of Emmie and Michael while you are out there)

Hope you are enjoying Oz as much as we did,

Love,

Sandra

Dear Nic & Ben

Got your postcard from Hollywood this week - you just about managed to get Ben's signature on! The pictures on your website show it to be a lot tackier than the postcard.

Nigel & Dot have left this morning for Sligo and we have Jessie staying with us for the next fortnight. She is finding it hard to walk back from the millenium oaks walk with Grandad - must be getting too old for all this walking malarkey (Jessie not Grandad) (on second thoughts - both).

Weather is turning colder here - more like autumn at the moment.

It is just as well you got to the USA when you did. You would not want to be starting out now with all the bomb scares and security problems.

Keep the pictures coming - you look like you are enjoying it all

Lots of Love,

Sandra

We are so envious, almost finishing our long shift on this Friday, waiting for beds for transfer of patients to other wards (nothing changes!) The weather is beautiful 28degrees believe it or not, the surf is good too:and us poor soles have had to work in it, still we have all had a good day. Sarah went on the cornish bell boat last week, she really enjoyed it apart from a silly woman who was feeding the seagulls!!! Wendy says hello, she has just spoken to Fran, who is also working hard at the Duchy.
Things arn't too good in the trust. They are closing St Michaels Hospital, (its bee headline news on the TV) and today all staff over 65 have been given a weeks notice!! Kernowflex shifts are all stopping on Monday throughout the trust. (this is what we have been told, not sure if it's rumour. Some we have heard are very upset, naturally. Nicky, I did my presentation yesterday and handed in my assignment, I was really nervous but it went well, I think. Cheers for now, we will keep you posted of any new developments.

Seems like you're having a blast! Wish we were there. The weather here is miserable. Keep up the diary because we're all jealous ere!!! (said Di).

Hi to both of you,
So glad you are continuing to enjoy your travels. I hope there has been no more nose incidents and that you've manged to get off trains and buses at the right stop!!
It was so good having coffee with you but we should all have had our photo taken for your mother, Ben. I thought about it when we were on the bus to the Cloisters - too late then of course.
I hope you got to the Museum of Modern Art, I thought it was exceptional. I travelled home with a young man from New Zealand and he was enthusing about it, he said you'd be lucky to get a very small Picasso in New Zealand!!
I was on a high for about a week when I got back from New York but am back to usual humdrum life of work.
Keep up the journal and the photos.
Have fun, and I'm not your mother so can say Take Care. Sue

Have a great time look forward to hearing all about it, I seem to remember putting my incorrect finger on the scan when I arrived in New York, it must be something in the air.

I loved New York even thougth it was minus temperatures and the occassional snow blizzard a little different for yourselves.

Anyway enjoy yourselves
