After a little research we decided our Next stop was going to be Penang!! So after a very easy Bus ride! We arrived in Penang, Our hostel was amazing it was an old heritage house converted into a hostel!! The city was very similar to , our other stops in Malaysia, cars and people everywhere, dirty and busy But in Penang they have George town! Which is a little area that once was a English settlement, so has amazing buildings and churches!! we arrived late, so we did our usual late night hunt for food!! We ended up in a Indian restaurant which was really nice, but we got kind of freak out that we didn’t get plates…just a big Banana leaf to eat off! After a very random night in….Which involved us spending two hours having imaginary phone conversations on our Air Con remote!! ( I think the heat has finally sent us all crazy!) The following day me, Sarah and Ellie went on a little explore we decided to go to a place called Penang Hill!! We had to get a crazily steep train up there; it took 30 mins to get 863 meters above sea level!!! Because it is so high up it was a lot cooler up there, I had forgotten how it feels not to sweat!! We had just got off the train and got talk into getting a henna tattoo! We walked around for a bit and saw a amazing hand painted temple and a pretty mosque!!! Although pennage hill is an old English army station it still has about 1000 local that still live up there , so there was a cute little police station and a bank!! We Went into a little bird aviary and saw some amazing birds. I also head another snake…. Iam getting good at it now!!!. After some more exploring around we stopped for lunch!! We went to a beautiful hotel that had an amazing view off the whole hill!! We had been drawn in by the ‘ Cream teas’ But after seeing the menu ( which we really couldn’t afford) We all settled for a relatively cheap starter! It was good food!! Ellie feel in love with the hotel and has decided she wants to get married here…All she needs is 1. a man , 2. A man rich enough to have his wedding all the way in Penang!! So we headed back down on the train and got a bus back to the city!! We then got on the free city bus that goes all around George town!! It was such a weird contrast , the manic streets and little shacks, then suddenly A grand catholic church!! For dinner that night we went to a English pub! It was horrible!! Not the food but the fact it was full of Yobish English people.. it was like a scene from that program ‘ Benidorm’. If I didn’t know better I would swear that out side the doors I was in Costa de Sol!! Have I forgotten how to be English???? Next stop Thiland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
