Liv's 2008 World Journey

Udaipur, India

We did it- we're officially tourists and even got the classic photo- Taj Mahal- tick! After being stuck in Dehli learning that Dehli's reputation for not having the most hygeinic food in the world is in fact true (even though we were planning on being the first tourists to get through India unharmed...) we were faced with a lack of trains so hopped on the next available one to our back up destination on Agra.. only after booking did we realise that we were infact heading into an oven with a 'feel temperature' of 47 degrees...

The Taj mahal was beautiful as everyone and every picture shows although we both had the same initial reaction of thinking it had shrunk once we saw it... The fact that we both were rather nautious during the visit made the whole event rather hysterical which the photos proved... but on a slightly more serious note it was stunning although we didn't actually see the inside as there were no lights so we were supposed to admire its beauty in complete darkness...
Rach was able to suffer the intense heat for another day as it was my turn to watch bollywood and be confined to our room before - finally - we made it to Udaipur- and on TWO TIER i might add- score!

Have loved this city so far.. a combination of being lead off to a stunning girl to her house so we could get our ankles painted in henna by her sister- to browsing (note the difference as it wasn't shopping..just yet) the hundreds of shops along the bazaar, to turning the corner in a rickshaw to face a painted elephant literally cm's from our face just strolling down the street, to hiring a rickshaw to a recommended restaurant to find it 50m from our hotel, to finding the most gorgeous torquoise necklace (and there is the shopping part).. Now all that we have to do is tick cooking classes, yoga, camel riding, a tad more shopping, and serious relaxing to tick of the list... all in the miniscule space of only 5 days!
