Vientiane, Laos

Hello everyone,

Brief update from Laos... it's a truly beautiful country and the people are wonderful. After having spent a few days on various buses travelling around, I have concluded that it looks a bit like it's from A Land Before Time... just stunning.

Unfortunately, two issues have sort of spoiled it for me a bit... first the stress with getting a new visa for China, which worked out okay, thank god, and I'm off to Kunming and then Chengdu on Sunday. And secondly the mosquitoes... I'm feeling unwell today, very weak, and am rather worried of getting dengue fever. Which apparently is only terrible/deadly if it's combined with having to frequent the toilet a lot, a symptom only the locals tend to get... Else it's 'only' fever and bed rest plus paracetamol for a few days. But still... the incubation period is 3-14 days, usually 4-7, and it's my third day today... fingers crossed I'll be okay but I have been feeling very weak all day and spent a lot of time lying down. Not sure it would be safe moving on to Tibet as well while suffering from that...

That's the very brief update...

Hope you're all well,
lots of love
Jn x
