So after a ferry ride in which we had to change ferries at 2.30am (groan) we arrived in Corfu around 6am.
A few things to know about Greece:
Runs on 'ish' time, meaning nothing is ever on time!
You don't flush the toilet paper down the toilet, you put it in a bin next to the toilet. Needless to say this was quite difficult cos a lot of us to comprehend, and being in Greece again at the moment, I can easily say it is no better the second time around.
So we slept for a few hours and got up and went into old corfu town were I proceeded to do a lot of present shopping! Yaaay!!
First night was the toga party which was SOOO fun!!! I love when themes that are sprung on you are easy to do!!! Will hopefully upload pics soon, but the computer keeps crashing everytime I plug in my USBs and therefore I don't really want to connect all my pictures if there's a possibility of them getting wiped!
Second night we went to Gloupos, a greek restuarant which was AMAZING fun!! They had greek costumes, singing, and dancing! we all got up and did the zorba dance and a few of us entered the 'potato dancing' competition, where you balance a potato between the two people's foreheads and make them do stuff to see who has the potato the longest. Luce and I got to about 5th place, we lost it when we were on our tummies and were told to roll over onto our backs!! good photos though :P good fun! lots of laughing!
then there were male dancers dancing in a ring of fire, some glass smashing, and a guy spinning around with a table in his mouth (?!?)
30th Sept: this was our cruise day!! so fun!! we went on Georges Boat, run by George, a seedy old man who makes sleazy remarks whenever he could... hmmmm
The island of Corfu is soooo beautiful i tried to get good photos but not sure how they went yet. Luce and I went parasailing!!! - good pics of us looking terrified!! :P
then we went to 'skinny dippy island' and all the people who work for contiki went skinny tipping, and a few of our group but not many. then home. Had mousaka for dinner which is a GREEK DISH (yay me, i even liked it!! and it has eggplant in it... i think i was just desperate for some mince by that point)
1st oct: checked out and went to our next ferry... we were going to see san marino as an added bonus but becuase of greek 'ish' time, the ferry was 2 hours late!! so it didn't happen... then we went to venice (included in italy blog) then vienna!!!
