Feeling a bit sad today as am off to Tassie. I do not want to leave Perth as I have had such a great time on the West and made some lovely friends esp Reg. I wish she was my travel buddy for the remainder of my travels but I will def have to go to Switzerland to see her when I get back. I also feel I have not really had enough time to see as much of Perth as I would like but I guess that is life!
Anyway we took off a bit late on my flight to Sydney for which I will be then transferring onto a flight to Hobart. In fact we did not land until my connecting flight was due to take off. I had to get off the flight first and run to the departing gate for the flight to Hobart!!! Bit of an experience!! Anyway I made it and we took off to Hobart, about 5 mins after I had landed
Little did I realise until I got to Hobart that my luggage had not been transferred to the Hobart plane. So to my horror I realised this when the luggage belt stopped and my luggage did not appear. I further began to panic as I was due to go on tour with adventure tours tomorrow at 6am to travel around Tassie.
I went to see a virgin blue rep and she was expecting me as she knew already that my luggage had not made it. She assured me that if I was on tour or not the luggage would meet me whether I am tomorrow.
Anyway, feeling a bit home sick as a result of this, where is my mum when I need her. I got onto the airport bus to my hostel with a load of cricket fans as there was a Aus vs Sri Lanka test match starting trow.
Got to my hostel and thank god one of the fans was staying at the same hostel. As little did I know it was not a 24 hr reception and he had a code to get into the hostel and I did not. Totally my fault as I did not tell them what time I was arriving. Got in the hostel and realised that they had not left a rom key for me. Therefore had to make a frantic call to the night manager to get a room for the night. He was in Sydney. Disaster!! However the fire warden was staying at the hostel so I had to knock on his room and get a room for the night. The bonus was that it was a room to myself!!!
So that night was spent sleepless as I knew I had to get up at 6am to see the adventure tour guide to expalin the situation I was in and the best action plan!!
All in all a disaster of a day!!! But guess you learn form these experiences!!! I will learn to pack some essentials in my hand luggage - I basically had checked all my luggage in except my wallet and phone!
